New Mexico Volleyball Bolsters Coaching Staff with Experienced Katie Keiper

New Mexico Volleyball has considerably strengthened its coaching ranks with the appointment of Katie Keiper as an assistant coach, joining Coach Brian Hosfeld’s team for the 2026-27 season. Keiper brings a wealth of experience cultivated across high school, club, collegiate, adn international levels, promising a dynamic addition to the Lobos’ program.
A Proven Track Record at the Club and High School Level
Keiper’s recent coaching journey has been marked by success. Since December 2023, she has served as a head coach for Great Plains Volleyball Club, guiding U17 and U18 teams. Prior to this, she led the volleyball program at Eisenhower high School in Lawton, oklahoma, from 2024 through 2025, earning the prestigious 2024 Oklahoma Coaches Association Region 4 Coach of the Year award. This recognition underscores her ability to develop talent and foster a winning habitat.
Extensive Experience in the Pacific Northwest
Before her time in Oklahoma, Keiper honed her coaching skills in the competitive volleyball landscape of the Pacific Northwest. She held head coaching positions with T3 VBC and 208 VBC, mentoring U14 and U15 teams and serving as an assistant coach for U15 and U16 squads. Her commitment to the sport extended beyond the court, as she also contributed as a regional referee for the Evergreen Region Volleyball Association while coaching at Gonzaga Preparatory School and College Prep Academy Volleyball Club.
Collegiate and International Playing & coaching Background
Keiper’s resume is distinguished by a unique blend of playing and coaching experience. She began her collegiate career at northern Arizona University before transferring to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS),where she completed her playing career. In total, Keiper has amassed over 15 years of experience as both a player and a coach, demonstrating a lifelong dedication to the sport.
Her international experience is equally extraordinary. From 2017 to 2020, Keiper competed with the Lakenheath U.S. Air Force women’s Team based in England, achieving three first-place finishes in competitions held in Germany and England. She further showcased her leadership abilities by coaching the All-Air Force European Women’s Team to a gold medal victory at the Aircom Tournament in 2020.
Professional Play and Academic Credentials
Keiper also demonstrated her versatility as a player on the UK Pro Beach Tour from 2017 to 2019, securing two first-place finishes in both coed and women’s doubles competition. prior to accepting the position in Albuquerque,she played with VLA Team Sakura based in Oklahoma City. Keiper holds a Bachelor of Business Governance degree from UCCS, providing a strong academic foundation to complement her practical coaching expertise.
