Las Vegas, Jan. 29, 2026 — Former NBA star Lamar Odom has voluntarily entered a 30-day rehabilitation program following a recent DUI arrest, his manager confirmed. The move signals a proactive step toward addressing ongoing challenges with substance use and prioritizing his well-being.
Seeking Reset After Arrest
The retired athlete is focusing on his health after a January 17th incident in Las Vegas.
- Odom was arrested for driving under the influence in Las Vegas earlier this month.
- He’s now participating in a 30-day treatment program at iRely Recovery.
- His manager stated he’s addressing triggers and taking full responsibility.
- Odom is specifically seeking help to avoid returning to harder drugs, focusing on curbing his marijuana use.
Odom’s manager, Gina Rodriguez, described the decision to enter treatment as “personal,” explaining that he wants to “reset and focus on his health.” Rodriguez shared that Odom “took a step back to reflect and address triggers he’s been dealing with,” adding, “He’s taking full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his wellbeing.”
What kind of support is available for individuals struggling with substance abuse? iRely Recovery, the facility where Odom is receiving treatment, states on its website that it helps those battling substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders “find balance, own their recovery, and cultivate a new life designed for wellness and success.”
Facing Multiple Charges
The January 17th arrest in Las Vegas resulted in not only a DUI charge but also two additional traffic violations: driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and failing to maintain a proper lane, according to reports.
Rodriguez also revealed that Odom, 46, is particularly focused on quitting marijuana, fearing it could lead to relapse with harder substances. This concern was first reported by TMZ.
A History of Addiction
Odom’s struggles with addiction have been public for years. He famously survived a near-fatal overdose in October 2015 after being found unconscious at Nevada’s Love Ranch brothel. At the time, he claimed he didn’t willingly ingest drugs and believed they were “slipped into” his drink, a claim he reiterated in subsequent interviews.
The 2015 overdose led to a medically induced coma, during which his then-wife, Khloé Kardashian, played a crucial role in his care. Kardashian initially filed for divorce in December 2013 but temporarily rescinded the paperwork to support Odom during his health crisis.
Their tumultuous relationship continued to be marked by struggles with addiction. In a February episode of “The Kardashians,” Kardashian revealed she physically assaulted Odom after discovering he had relapsed, stating, “I punched you in the face, and I shattered everything in that house.”
Kardashian confronted Odom about his actions, accusing him of having the “awareness to get a burner phone to call a drug dealer” despite claiming he wasn’t thinking clearly.
In May 2021, Odom discussed his use of ketamine as a tool for maintaining sobriety, receiving small doses under medical supervision. He described the experience as positive, stating, “I’m feeling amazing. I’m alive, I’m sober, I’m happy.”
