Lisbon, January 26, 2026 – The inheritance dispute following the death of beloved Portuguese singer Marco Paulo continues to simmer, with a key beneficiary, Eduardo Ferreira, stating the situation is currently “at a standstill.” Ferreira, a firefighter who was a friend of the late singer, has yet to receive his 10% share of the estate, and alleges disagreements over valuation are the primary obstacle.
Inheritance Impasse: Firefighter Claims Lowball Offer
The late singer’s surprise heir is locked in a dispute with other beneficiaries over the value of his inheritance.
- Marco Paulo passed away, leaving his estate to be divided among three heirs.
- Eduardo Ferreira, inheriting 10%, claims the proposed valuation of his share is unfair.
- Tony and Marquinho, inheriting 90%, have reportedly offered a settlement Ferreira rejected.
- ferreira has appealed to the other heirs to reach a fair agreement.
ferreira revealed in a recent interview with SIC’s “Júlia” program, hosted by Júlia Pinheiro, that he believes he’s being unfairly treated in the division of assets. “Of course, they have already accused me that I am the one who is stopping things,” he stated, declining to elaborate on specific details of the offers made by Tony and Marquinho. When pressed about the nature of his relationship with Marco Paulo, and whether it was more then friendship, Ferreira declined to answer.
Regarding his preference for receiving assets, Ferreira indicated that a property would be straightforward, as its registration is clear. Though, he requested an audit to determine the actual amount of money available at the time of Marco Paulo’s death. “I don’t want anyone to be harmed. Tony and Marquinho are just like me, they are heirs like me, we are inheriting somthing that Marco gave us to the three of us. I don’t want to be harmed, nor do they, I just want what is fair.”
Ferreira did not disclose whether a formal proposal had been made, but reiterated his desire for a resolution: “I would like us to sit down at the table and come to an agreement and get this over with.” Rumors suggest Tony and Marquinho were surprised by Ferreira’s inclusion as an heir, as Marco Paulo had apparently kept this information confidential, potentially complicating negotiations.
