Carlson again struck down in front of Pragyananda; This is the second time this year

New Delhi: For the second time this year, world chess champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway has been defeated by Indian teenager Grandmaster R.K. Pragyananda. Pragyananda defeated the world champion for the second time in the fifth round of the Chessable Masters Online Rapid Chess Tournament on Friday.

Earlier in February, Pragyananda defeated Carlson in the Airtings Masters Online Rapid Chess Tournament.

Carlson suffered a setback in the 40th move as the fifth round of the Chessable Masters Online Rapid Chess Tournament was drawing to a close on Friday.

With the win, Pragyananda’s chances of reaching the knockout round of the tournament increased by 12 points. China’s Wei is currently the number one. Carlson is in second place.

Abhimanyu Mishra, the world’s youngest Grandmaster and an American of Indian descent, is also taking part in the 16 – player tournament.
