The conflict between the King of Jordan and his brother escalates, with the king imposing significant restrictions on his brother who he says did not abide by the settlement agreement between them. Restrictions will be placed on his movements, where he was and his means of communication
The King of Jordan, Abdullah II, decided to impose restrictions on his half-brother, Prince Hamza, who last April relinquished the title of prince and in fact withdrew from the sulha he had agreed to with the king.
A statement from the monarchy said that the King of Jordan had received a recommendation from a council established under the Royal Family Law that imposes restrictions on his movements, whereabouts and media.
According to the king, he tried to resolve the conflict with him in dialogue and within the family, but Hamza did not take advantage of the opportunities. He described Hamza’s behavior as destructive: “I would not be surprised if he comes out to us with abusive messages that are reprehensible in the homeland and its institutions, but I and all our people will not waste time replying to him.” He promised that Hamza would get what he needed for a decent life, but he would not get the space to exploit it to the detriment of the homeland, its institutions and his family while trying to endanger Jordan’s stability.
Jordan’s King Abdullah II also wrote: “My brother Hamza ignored all the facts and evidence and chose to manipulate to strengthen his false narrative. Unfortunately, my brother believes wholeheartedly in what he claims, and this illusion is not new. One day, however, I was disappointed again and again. “
The king added: “Hamza surrounded himself with people who sought to strengthen his opposition to the monarchy ‘decisions. Hamza continued his abusive behavior towards me and his family’s history and state institutions. He chose to treat everyone around him with suspicion and disgust.”
The king referred to Hamza’s letter of waiver of the prince’s title: “I found in this letter only a distortion of reality and his disregard for anything that did not fit his narrative. Hamza proved his negative intentions and chose to play the role of victim as we were used to. “I allowed him. My duty is to the Jordanian people. And I will not allow anyone to act for his interests at the expense of the interests of the homeland. And I will not even allow my brother to be a cause for further concern in our homeland.”
As you may recall, more than a year ago, Hamza came out against the king against the background of the situation in the country. The royal house narrowed its steps and even arrested some of its associates, two of whom were prosecuted and sentenced to what was called the “Civil War affair.”
