Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and AIDS Center at King Saud Medical City, Dr. Alaa Al-Ali, explained that monkeypox symptoms first appear as mild symptoms such as high temperature.
He added that the symptoms include the appearance of vesicles containing pus, fatigue and body fatigue, muscle pain, headache, and enlarged lymph nodes, and in a few cases it may reach severe symptoms such as respiratory and nervous injuries.
And he indicated that infection often occurs from infected animals – such as dogs and rodents – to humans, but so far there is no conclusive evidence of its transmission between humans or from humans to animals.

He also indicated that those infected with it must be isolated in a safe place and adhere to infection prevention measures such as wearing masks, gloves, and others, noting that some cases have been recorded between homosexuals and homosexuals, but we cannot generalize this method until it is fully confirmed.
While “Al-Ali” indicated that the best prevention is to stay away from sources of the disease such as pets – dogs and rodents – especially households that show the disease, and isolate any suspects who show symptoms of monkeypox who have suspected contact with animals or people with smallpox.
He also stressed the commitment to infection prevention measures in and outside hospitals, such as masks, protective clothing, and appropriate isolation rooms, while taking the smallpox vaccine, whether chickenpox or monkeypox.
