TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The man accused of shooting an Uber driver in Fresno, California, on Thanksgiving night was arrested January 27 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, authorities said. This arrest brings a resolution closer in a case that unfolded during a holiday and involved a violent altercation over a ride-sharing service.
Suspect Apprehended in Oklahoma After Thanksgiving Shooting
Maurice Session was taken into custody after a coordinated effort between Fresno police and U.S. Marshals.
Detectives identified Maurice Session as the suspect in the November 2025 shooting and worked with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate and arrest him in Tulsa. Session is currently being held in the Tulsa County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Fresno County to face charges.
The shooting took place around 8:13 p.m. on Thanksgiving night near the intersection of George Avenue and Tupman Street. Officers responding to the scene found an Uber driver inside his vehicle.
Investigators determined that the driver had picked up Session and a female passenger when an argument began. According to police, Session slapped the driver, prompting the driver to demand they exit the vehicle.
As the driver attempted to pull away, Session allegedly produced a handgun and fired at the driver, grazing his head. The victim’s vehicle sustained at least three bullet impacts.
The driver was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and subsequently released after receiving medical attention.
