Jennifer Lynch revealed on Reddit that scripts for her father’s unrealized Netflix series,”Unrecorded Night,” will likely be published by her and her siblings.
A Project Cut Short
Lynch, who died January 16, 2025, after a battle with emphysema and requiring supplemental oxygen, had pitched “Unrecorded Night” to Netflix. Reports indicated the show was approved, with speculation that Laura Dern and Naomi Watts could star. However, development ceased when the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Responding to a fan inquiry on Reddit, Jennifer Lynch wrote, “Unrecorded Night scripts are likely to be published by myself and my siblings as a way to offer what could not be realised, to those who would have loved it.” She implored fans to “wait for this release and not hunt down what will likely be unauthorised versions and would soil the gorgeous work Dad created.”

Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks: The Return) reflected on the profound impact Lynch had on her life, stating, “Yoru voice, your stories, your laughter-they’re etched into my heart. You changed my life, opened my mind, and left my ears ringing from those joyful bullhorn calls.”
Karen O shared a photo of Lynch’s grave, expressing her sorrow at “missing David’s earthly presence,” while Sky Ferreira simply wrote, “we love you.” Ferreira appeared in the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks, and Karen O collaborated with Lynch on his 2011 album ‘Crazy Clown Time.’
