Costa Rica’s National Symphony Orchestra Announces 2026 Season: accessible Music & beach-inspired Concerts

The 2026 season of the Benemérita national Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica (OSNCR) promises a renewed commitment to cultural accessibility, featuring a diverse program of concerts inspired by the nation’s iconic beaches and significantly reduced ticket prices.

San José, Costa Rica – February 5, 2026 – The Ministry of Culture and Youth unveiled the 2026 Official Season of the OSNCR this Thursday, an artistic initiative designed to celebrate Costa Rica’s natural beauty and broaden access to symphonic music. The season, running from February to November at the National Theatre, will feature 12 concerts dedicated to beloved coastal destinations including Cahuita, Tamarindo, and Manuel Antonio.

“We want more people to get closer to symphonic music and feel it as their own,” stated a senior official from the Ministry of Culture and Youth. “This season not only celebrates artistic excellence, but also reaffirms our commitment to democratic access to culture, with more accessible tickets and programming that connects with the Costa Rican identity.”

Lower Ticket Prices & Expanded Access

One of the most notable changes for the 2026 season is a reduction of over 50% in ticket prices. tickets will now range from 2,200 colones in the gallery to 10,000 colones in the Luneta section. Further discounts are available: full season tickets receive a 30% reduction, while partial season tickets are discounted by an additional 20%.

Accessibility is further enhanced through targeted discounts. Students and senior citizens with identification will receive a 30% discount at the physical ticket office. Cardholders of the Brete program will benefit from a 50% reduction, and individuals supported by the IMAS program will have free access to performances. Expanding Reach Beyond san José

Beyond the performances at the National Theater, the OSNCR is committed to bringing music to communities across Costa rica. Throughout 2026, the orchestra will present 83 concerts, with approximately half of them offered free of charge in communities, schools, churches, and auditoriums throughout the country’s seven provinces.

planned initiatives include tours in San José and Puntarenas (March), concerts in schools (April and September), presentations at universities (June), and master classes at SINEM headquarters. In 2025,the OSNCR reached over 40,000 attendees,including more than 13,000 students experiencing a symphony orchestra for the first time. The orchestra also expanded its reach to previously unvisited communities like Nandayure and hojancha in Guanacaste.
