thirteen departments on orange alert

by time news

The heat wave affecting a large part of France will end in a stormy deterioration: thirteen departments in central France, threatened by thunderstorms on Sunday May 22, have been placed on orange alert by Météo-France.

The alert mainly concerns Limousin, Auvergne and Poitou-Charentes, and specifically the departments of Haute-Vienne, Creuse, Corrèze, Cantal, Charente, Dordogne, Lot, Gironde, Loire, Haute-Loire, Lot-et- Garonne, Puy-de-Dôme and Vienne.

Sometimes strong thunderstorms, accompanied by strong gusts and hail will concern this afternoon and this evening the regions ranging from New Aquitaine to the Massif Central, writes Météo France, in its bulletin of May 22.

Météo-France announces very hot weather for Sunday in the southern half, easily exceeding 30 degrees, and predicts that this heavy atmosphere will trigger thunderstorms in the afternoon, from Aquitaine to Franche-Comté, including “the activity can be temporarily strong, accompanied by a risk of hail and violent gusts”. A second series of storms is expected at the end of the day and will concern New Aquitaine to the Pays de la Loire and central France.
