LOS ANGELES, February 9, 2024 — Kaley Cuoco is voicing her frustration over being passed over to host the NFL Honors, expressing a desire to finally take the stage at the league’s annual awards show. The actress, known for her roles in “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Flight Attendant,” feels she’s a strong candidate and is puzzled by the repeated snubs.

A Touchdown Denied: Cuoco’s NFL Hosting Bid

Cuoco has publicly shared her disappointment after not being selected to host the NFL Honors for the second year in a row.

  • Cuoco auditioned for the hosting gig, even submitting a self-made tape.
  • She expressed feeling overlooked, particularly as the NFL Honors has historically been hosted by men.
  • Despite her passion for football, Cuoco has been passed over for Snoop Dogg (2023) and Jon Hamm (2024).

“I am p**sed,” Cuoco admitted on the Armchair Expert podcast on Monday. “Last year, I thought I was getting that gig and then it went to Snoop Dogg. That was amazing, by the way. This year, Jon Hamm is now hosting. Get a chick up there, NFL!” She emphasized her knowledge and love for the sport, stating, “I have waited my turn, I know all about football. I know a lot and I love it. So I feel like I’m such a good candidate for this but now I feel like I’m getting lower on the list.”

Cuoco discovered Jon Hamm’s selection just two days before the podcast recording, prompting her to question when she would get her opportunity. “Literally two days ago in our house, I was like, ‘Jon Hamm’s hosting this?! When am I gonna get my shot?!’” she stated. “I feel I’ve earned it. I can be funny. I am not mean. I am fun. I understand the game.”

What is the historical gender representation of NFL Honors hosts? The NFL Honors, held on the Thursday preceding the Super Bowl, has featured a male host for 14 of its 15 ceremonies. Kelly Clarkson broke the streak in 2023.

The two-time People’s Choice Awards host admitted the repeated rejections are affecting her. “It’s changing me, knowing that I’m not able to be this host of this NFL Honors. It drives me crazy. Then they’re like, ‘Well, we’d love for you to come present.’ I’m like, ‘No.’” However, Cuoco clarified she remains open to hosting in the future, stating she would “100% yes” if offered the position.

Cuoco shared a recent experience where she was one of five actresses considered for another role, but the team repeatedly auditioned others before her. “I was fifth in line. I remember my team was like, ‘At this point, like f**k them.’ I’m like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, I still want this,’” she recalled, ultimately revealing she didn’t land the part.
