Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil thanks Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin!

The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe has thanked the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin for sending relief items to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka today received Rs. 2 billion worth of humanitarian assistance from India, including milk powder, rice and medicines.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin and the people of India for their support.

Ranil Wickremesinghe also took to Twitter to express his appreciation for the assistance extended by the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka and the President of the Ceylon Workers Congress, Senthil Thondaman.

Relief items provided on behalf of Tamil Nadu for the people of Sri Lanka were dispatched from the Port of Chennai on May 18.

Chief Minister MK Stalin flagged off the voyage of ships carrying relief supplies.

In the first phase, relief items and essential items worth Rs. 8.87 crore have been shipped from Tamil Nadu. Of this, 9,500 tonnes of rice, 200 tonnes of milk powder and 30 tonnes of medicines were sent.

More relief items are to be sent from Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka.

For receiving relief items sent from Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister also sent a letter to M.K. The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka thanked Stalin. But the High Commission of India in Colombo made no mention of the Tamil Nadu government.

Relief items sent by ship from Tamil Nadu were handed over to the Government of Sri Lanka today.

The High Commission of India in Colombo has posted the event on its Twitter page. It is noteworthy that the post did not mention the Tamil Nadu government or Chief Minister MK Stalin.
