Anaïs & Gene Gallagher on Oasis Reunion & “Most Exciting Gallagher” | NME Interview

by Sofia Alvarez

The echoes of Oasis’s 2024 reunion tour continue to reverberate through the British music scene, with the band’s legacy and future remaining a frequent topic of conversation. At the 2026 BRIT Awards, Noel Gallagher was honored with the Songwriter Of The Year award, a recognition that sparked reflection on the band’s enduring impact and the possibility of further performances. The celebration took on a familial dimension as Gallagher shared the moment with his daughter, Anaïs, and his nephew, Gene, both of whom are forging their own paths in the music industry.

Anaïs Gallagher, a model and photographer, and Gene Gallagher, frontman of the band Villanelle, were present at the awards ceremony, marking a rare public appearance together. The event, held for the first time outside of London in Manchester, saw Jack Whitehall return as host for a sixth time, according to the NME. The siblings’ presence underscored the multi-generational influence of Oasis and the Gallagher family within British music. The award for Noel came after Oasis’s hugely successful ‘Live ‘25’ reunion tour last year.

A Family Affair at the BRITs

Interestingly, both Anaïs and Gene learned of Noel’s win via Instagram before hearing it directly from him. Anaïs described her father as “shocked” by the recognition, adding, “In my opinion, he’s quite a humble person, although I think a lot of people would disagree with that.” She emphasized the significance of the award, particularly given that a younger generation is now discovering and embracing Oasis’s music. The sentiment highlights the band’s continued relevance and ability to connect with new audiences.

The ‘Live ‘25’ tour clearly left a lasting impression on the younger Gallaghers. Anaïs recalled attending 12 consecutive shows, a testament to the tour’s pull. She humorously contrasted her current experience with childhood memories of Oasis concerts, admitting, “We had memories of Oasis before, but then I mainly cared about how many Milky Way Stars were in the dressing room or how many beef flavoured Hula-Hoops were there for me to eat! So it was nice to now be able to go to the shows and experience it with a relatively clean head.”

The Future of Oasis: A Question Mark

Despite the success of the reunion tour and the recent accolades, the question of future Oasis performances remains open-ended. When pressed about the possibility of additional tour dates, Anaïs offered a hopeful, yet noncommittal, response: “I would love for Oasis to live forever, and I think it does in our hearts, but who knows!” This sentiment reflects both a desire for the band’s continued existence and an acknowledgment of the complexities surrounding a potential reunion.

Villanelle and the Next Generation of Gallagher Musicians

The BRIT Awards also provided a platform to spotlight the musical endeavors of the next generation of Gallaghers. Gene Gallagher’s band, Villanelle, recently appeared on the NME 100 list for 2026, and is preparing to release their debut EP. Anaïs playfully declared Gene “the most exciting Gallagher in the family these days,” emphasizing the strong familial support within the group. She was quick to add, “I don’t think we’re competitive though. We’re a very supportive family. Everyone thinks that everyone is great. It’s all good vibes here.”

The 2026 BRIT Awards also celebrated a diverse range of artists, with performances from Harry Styles, Olivia Dean, and Rosalía, who surprised the audience with a guest appearance from Björk. Olivia Dean took home the most awards, including Album of the Year for ‘The Art Of Loving’, even as PinkPantheress was recognized as Producer Of The Year. The ceremony also included a moving tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away last summer, featuring a performance by Robbie Williams alongside members of Osbourne’s band.

The BRIT Awards’ move to Manchester this year marked a historic shift for the event, having been held in London for its first 45 years. The awards also served as a reminder of the enduring power of music to connect generations and celebrate artistic achievement.

As the music world looks ahead, the future of Oasis remains a topic of speculation and hope. While no concrete plans for further performances have been announced, the band’s legacy continues to inspire and influence a new wave of musicians, including Gene Gallagher and his band, Villanelle. The next step for Villanelle will be the release of their debut EP, and fans can identify more information about the band and the BRIT Awards winners here.
