The winner of the festivities was coach Pep Guardiola, who won the local championship for the tenth time in 13 seasons as head coach. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach smoked a cigar and said: “Everyone knows it’s a huge achievement. It’s the toughest league and we’d won it four times since I arrived. I can see the happiness on people’s faces. The players made a great comeback, there was a lot of tension after the loss to Real Madrid “But we did not give up. We should be proud of the players.”
Player of the season Kevin de Bruyne admitted he was “a little drunk” and added: “Winning for the fourth time is amazing. We could not really hold a parade last year because of the Corona but it’s wonderful to see so many people here celebrating with us. Ten seconds after falling behind 2-0 “We thought we lost it, but we did it, in City’s way. It feels very sweet.”

Teammate Jack Grillish, who got drunk at the celebrations of his first championship, joked: “The main man I want to thank is Bernardo Silva for being substituted in the 70th minute, 2-0 behind, because he was not in the direction of yesterday.” As is well known, the one who replaced Silva was the hero of the uprising, Ilkai Gonduan. Later in the festivities the Portuguese sent a sting back and said: “Leave Grillish on the bench”.
When Kyle Walker was asked who could beat him one-on-one, even then Grillish stole the show and provided an answer that made Guardiola burst out laughing: “I was when I was at Aston Villa, that’s why Pep signed me.”
