Can a laser prevent the first skin aging?

by time news

Philips introduces Philips RéAura, the first laser anti-aging treatment for home use. By using light, the laser device stimulates natural cell renewal. Philips RéAura promises an even complexion, improved skin texture and a reduction of fine lines on the face, neck, décolletage, hands and underarms. According to Philips, visible results are achieved, although this may vary from person to person. Deep lines and wrinkles can improve somewhat. but remain visible. The changes take place gradually, but then you have to use the laser for at least 8 weeks for 2 times a week. The device was made in collaboration with the makers of the Fraxel laser technology.

During treatment, thousands of microscopic laser beams pass through the epidermis and dermis. This triggers a natural process of cell renewal. Old and damaged cells are replaced by new cells, which contain more collagen. Repeated treatment stimulates and strengthens the collagen network. The result is smoother skin and fewer fine lines. At the same time, pigmented skin cells are pushed out of the skin. This gives the skin an even complexion.

Philips RéAura works with a lower light intensity than professional equipment. Results do not come immediately, only become visible over time and differ from person to person. Improvements in pigmentation only become apparent after 3 to 4 weeks with consistent use. After 4 or 5 weeks, the improvements in texture will be seen and fine lines will begin to fade.

The device is only intended to reduce the signs of aging on the face, neck, chest, hands and forearms and not on other parts of the body. If you have skin infections, open wounds, rashes, burns, sunburn, inflammation or active acne, you should not use the device. That is also the case if your skin is still recovering from a cosmetic treatment with botox or fillers

If you want to use or buy this device, realize that the skin is much more sensitive to the sun, which can increase the risk of unwanted pigmentation and sunburn. Avoid significant sun exposure (e.g. sunburn or tanning) 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after treatment. When going outside during this time, use a sun protection factor of 30 or higher on the treated areas. Also use factor 30 if you go into the sun until 3 months after the treatment
