The teenager who killed at least 19 children at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday announced on Facebook that he was going to attack an elementary school, state governor Greg Abott said on Wednesday (May 25th). The young man used an assault rifle, he added.

US authorities had previously announced that the shooter had purchased two semi-automatic rifles and 375 bullets just after celebrating his 18^e birthday on May 16.

Identified as Salvador Ramos, the young man is an American citizen enrolled in Uvalde high school, Mr. Abbott said Tuesday evening, without specifying his motive. He was shot dead by border police officers who intervened at the scene of the killing.
