Gajendra Swain, 28, of Dikarbanga village in Orissa’s Kendrapada district, is a part-time driver. He had been meeting lorry drivers in Jagatsinghpur district for the past 22 days and asking for work. He went to ask for work from the drivers of lorries parked on the roadside near the Pudamandal bridge near the port of Paradip.

Then as he was heading towards a lorry suddenly a driver yelled that he could not find his cell phone. Immediately, some drivers grabbed Gajendra Swain and kicked him, claiming that he was the one who stole the cell phone. As well as wearing a garland of shoes around his neck without standing.
