by time news

Sony expects PC gaming revenue for this fiscal year, which began on April 1st, to reach a whopping $300 million.

The popular Japanese electronics and games company also revealed that it releases most of its games on two platforms. Sony expects future games to focus on computers and the emerging mobile world, at least for the next few years.

Sony PC gaming earnings forecast

According to an IGN news report, Sony has revealed to its investors that it expects record profits from PC games in the current fiscal year, which ends on March 30, 2023.

To be more precise, the gaming giant behind shows like God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn is looking to generate $300 million in net sales for its PC titles only.

It should be noted that it does not include other game offerings from Sony, such as the PlayStation 5 on demand and its console games.

Therefore, it appears that the Japan-based gaming giant is expecting more than $300 million in profit from its lucrative gaming endeavors.

In its report, IGN noted that Sony revealed how much PC gaming it had brought to the table for the previous fiscal year, which had its final curtain on March 31.

The PlayStation maker boasted that it made $80 million from the previous fiscal year.

It’s far less than what the company expects going forward. However, the latest numbers boast massive growth from its 2020 performance of $35 million.

Sony’s multi-million revenue was thanks to coveted game titles, such as God of War, Days Gone and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Sony PC Game Plans

Sony has yet to reveal how it plans to achieve such massive growth this year. But IGN highlights that the gaming giant has previously announced its upcoming PC title, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.

Sony: More PC and mobile games

Meanwhile, Sony President Jim Ryan revealed their intention to bring more exciting games to PC and mobile platforms.

According to a VGC report, Sony says the expansion plan should shift their position from “a very narrow segment of the gaming software market in general, to one that is pretty much ubiquitous.”

Ryan announced that the company plans to release half of its games on PC and mobile by 2025. While also indicating that PS4 titles will stop working during the said year.
