As China seeks to annex neighboring Taiwan, US President Joe Biden, who is touring Asia, said his country would support Taiwan.
Joe Biden met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the 23rd to discuss regional and global cooperation. Speaking at the conference afterwards, he stressed the country’s commitment to the protection of Taiwan, which is in a difficult situation.
He also stressed the need to oppose unilateral changes to the current situation. He also said that the United States was ready to intervene militarily in Taiwan’s security and that this was their pledge. That is, Biden warned that the US would intervene if China tried to annex Taiwan.

In this context, China announced yesterday that it was conducting military exercises near Taiwan. A Chinese security spokesman said: “The recent patrols and exercises by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) around the island of Taiwan are necessary steps against the alliance between Taiwan and the United States.” This is seen as a move by China in defiance of US warnings.
Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that China sees Taiwan as its territory despite decades of independent rule and will seize it if necessary.
