Visa abuse: Karthi Chidambaram to appear before CBI – No restraining order till May 30!

Delhi: A Delhi court has stayed the arrest of Karthi Chidambaram till May 30 on charges of illegally obtaining visas for Chinese. Meanwhile, Karthi Chidambaram is appearing at the CBI office for questioning.

Karthi Chidambaram today (May 26) was booked by the CBI in connection with the illegal purchase of ‘visas’ for Chinese. Appeared in person at the office for questioning. In this situation, on behalf of Karthi Chidambaram, Munjamin had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. The Delhi Rose Avenue court, which heard the case, has stayed the arrest of Karthi Chidambaram till May 30.

There are many complaints that senior Congress leader Chidambaram, when he was the Union Finance Minister, used his influence and his son, Sivagangai MP, Yumana Karthi Chidambaram was involved in various malpractices. Related cases are also pending. In this case, 263 Chinese nationals are said to have received bribes of Rs 50 lakh to obtain illegal ‘visas’. The CBI has registered a case against Karthi Chidambaram’s auditor Bhaskar Raman, 55, and the Delhi CBI has arrested him in connection with the case.

Following the investigation, the Delhi CBI registered a case against the first accused Bhaskarraman and the second accused Karthi Chidambaram and conducted raids at 18 places in Chennai, Delhi and Odisha and seized important documents. During further investigation, the CBI and authorities seized evidence that Bhaskar Raman had exchanged information with Chinese nationals about obtaining a visa illegally.

Karthik Chidambaram, who returned to Delhi from abroad yesterday (25), appeared at the CBI headquarters today for questioning. It has been reported that CBI officials are questioning Karthi Chidambaram based on his response to Bhaskar Raman’s interrogation. Before appearing, Karthi Chidambaram said, “I did not help any Chinese get a visa.”

In this context, the Delhi Rose Avenue court, which heard the case of Karthi Chidambaram’s Munjam, has ordered a stay of Karthi Chidambaram’s arrest till May 30.
