Kiev: Russia intensifies offensive to seize more cities as Ukraine nears three months of occupation. Pro-Russian rebels say they have taken control of the strategic city of Liman in the northeastern Donbass. However, the Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed this.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister made it clear that without foreign weapons, the Ukrainian army could not stop the Russian advance. In Luhansk, heavy fighting is taking place in the cities of Sivirodonetsk and Lisichansk. Russia has intensified bombing of these cities. The Russian military is moving to encircle both cities.
Severodonetsk Mayor Oleksandr Struk said that since the attack on the city of Sevorodonetsk, 1,500 locals have been killed and about 60 percent of the buildings destroyed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has said that Russia’s attack destroyed Donbass. Nine people, including a five-month-old baby, have been killed in a shelling in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. 19 people were injured.
At least 10 people have been killed in a Russian attack on a military base in Dinipro. The United Nations says more than 4,000 locals have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the Russian occupation. But the actual death toll could be much higher.
