A serious incident in Petah Tikva: A 54-year-old city resident was arrested this morning (Saturday) on suspicion of assaulting Eshtavu with an ax in front of their daughters who were staying in the apartment. The daughters started shouting loudly and tried to separate the parents in order to keep the father away from the mother and as a result, one of the daughters was also injured.

Police forces who arrived at the scene arrested the father and he was taken for questioning at the Petah Tikva station. The MDA team that arrived at the scene provided primary medical care to the mother and daughter and evacuated them to the hospital with the condition of the mother defined as mild to moderate and that of the daughter defined as mild.

The incident took place this morning when the family members were in the apartment and in the circumstances currently being investigated, the father picked up an ax and started attacking his wife, while hitting her on various parts of her body. The girls called for the mother’s help and managed to separate the father and prevent him from continuing the injury. The investigation is currently in its infancy, with the suspect being brought in for a hearing regarding the extension of his detention, in accordance with the needs of the investigation and its findings.

Police sources note that “this is a very cute incident, which could have ended tragically without the girls’ resourcefulness.” Neighbors in the building add: “We were horrified by the shouts in the early morning. It is usually a very calm building even though quite a few tenants live in it. We are all in shock.”
