Annarasa, the leader of the Jaffna District Fishermen’s Association, said that it was heartbreaking that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had said that this was the time to release Kachchadi after providing relief items.
Annalingam Anna Rasa, President of the Jaffna District Fishermen’s Co-operative Society, said:
He was speaking to the media after a discussion chaired by Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda at the Jaffna District Secretariat today.
He added, “We often refer to our Tamil Nadu people as our umbilical cord relationship. It is to be welcomed that the people of Tamil Nadu, under the leadership of Chief Minister Stalin, have sent us dry food parcels at a time of great economic crisis in Sri Lanka. But even before the aid supplies reach our hands, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has said that now is the time to end the Kachchadi.
We have experienced the tragedies of Talana during the 30 year war and are currently suffering greatly from the economic crisis. In such a situation, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who claims that we are our navel-gazing relationship, said that we are very concerned, ”he said.
