Gostekh was unable to update foreign software

by time news

The developers of the Gostekh platform, which is being created by Sber on the order of the government, faced restrictions when trying to get access to official Terraform software updates. This was told to Vedomosti by a top manager and an employee of two major Russian software developers. Now, they argue, Gostekh developers are forced to clone the program code and maintain it on their own, which creates risks for the entire system.

Terraform is used to work with cloud infrastructure. This is software created by the American company HashiCorp and distributed under an open license like Mozilla Public License ver. 2.0, which gives the right to use it freely. However, in fact, part of the functionality is closed to Russia and does not allow downloading updates and packages, a top manager of one of the Russian developers points out.
