Gunman Salvador Ramos, 18, entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde at 11:33 a.m. local time after firing “several shots” outside, Texas Public Safety Agency director Steven McCraw said at a news conference Friday.

The suspect started shooting in one of the two connected classrooms 111 or 112. “It’s not possible to determine that from the video footage we have at this time,” McCraw said. But: «We know that he fired more than 100 shots at this point, based on the audio recordings. At least 100 shots.”

Within a few minutes – at 11:35 a.m. – police officers were also at the school building, who had entered through the same door as the shooter. “At about that time, two of these officers were shot near the door to the classroom where the shooter was located.”

The gunman then continued shooting inside the classroom while the door was closed and locked, McCraw said. (kle)
