Big disappointment: Cohen and Pisa remain in Serie B

by time news

Big disappointment for Jonathan Cohen and Pisa. The Israeli came on in the 85th minute, but his team surrendered 4: 3 to Monza at the end of extra time (6: 4 in the overall summary) and remained in Serie B.

This is not how the Israeli imagined his debut season overseas. Beyond his declining status, tonight (Sunday through Monday) Cohen and his teammates suffered a major setback when they failed to get a ticket to the major leagues, even though they marked it as the main goal at the start of the season.

It was a particularly tense battle, when at times Pisa was sure she was with a foot and a half in Serie A. But a lack of concentration in the blue-and-black defense spawned a great drama, at the end of which Silvio Berlusconi’s team celebrated the first illegal immigration in its history to the top league.

It actually started well for Pisa. A pair of super-fast goalscorers by Ernesto Torgrosa (1) and Yortor Hermanson (9) put the host temporarily in the qualifying position for the Premier League. Less than 11 minutes passed, and Jose Machin shrank to 2: 1. In the 79th minute Christian Gitkiar made it 2: 2 and put Monza in a position to advance in the league, but a super dramatic 2: 3 in the 90 + 1 minute by Giuseppe Mastino sent the teams to extra time.

Hence, everything went upside down for Pisa. A pair of quick goals by Luca Marona (96) and Christian Gitkier (101) closed the game – Monza rises to Serie A, Pisa and Yonatan Cohen remain in Serie B.
