Jakarta: A cargo boat carrying construction materials sank in the Makasar Strait near the southern Sulawesi province in Indonesia, leaving 25 people missing. The boat, which left the port of Makassar on Thursday morning, sank on its way to Kalmas Island in the Pangpe Regency.

Bad weather is thought to have led to the accident. A total of 42 people were on board the boat. The 17 people rescued were brought ashore. The search is continuing in the area with the help of the Air Force.
