Cycle tourism: Rochefort offers a free application dedicated to bike rides and trips

by time news

The “Loopi” application dedicated to tourist walks and bike trips is coming to Rochefort. Its agglomeration has chosen this tool developed in Charente-Maritime by the Moustic agency to guide cyclists and cycle tourists on its territory. Available free of charge on Android and IOS, “Loopi” is a route calculator allowing you to organize a route and access your various points of interest. About twenty walks have been referenced there by theme and type of route, depending on the difference in altitude.

“The app also shows travel times and difficulties. The number of cycle tourists has exploded in recent years, this tool seemed to us to be super effective in meeting expectations, ”underlines Sébastien Bourbigot, vice-president of the Rochefort-Océan Agglomeration, in charge of tourist development and president of its tourist office.

Deployed in many territories, in Charente-Maritime and elsewhere in France, this digital tool has won over in recent years for its ease of use. Designed specifically for gentle roaming, “Loopi” offers voice-guided GPS, even offline. Its price is also attractive for local authorities: “The annual subscription is around 1000 euros. It is very affordable compared to the service offered. It’s up to us to promote this tool,” explains Sébastien Bourbigot, who intends to add walking paths and trails to this application by next year.

Labeled “Grand Site de France”, the Agglomeration of Rochefort is also crossed by two cycle routes, the Vélodyssée and the FlowVélo, which recorded 43,000 passages in 2021. The famous Martrou transporter bridge transported nearly 31,000 bicycles for a total of 112,700 passengers.
