The price of yarn, the main raw material for the Kata textile industry, which is produced by looms, is rising sharply. This has severely affected the textile industry. Powerloom textile manufacturers have been protesting for 15 consecutive days from May 22 to June 5, condemning the rise in yarn prices and demanding price controls.
More than 2 lakh generators in Tiruppur, Coimbatore and other districts were out of order due to the strike. As a result, more than 5 lakh workers are out of work. Workers are also unable to go to another job.
In this situation, the strike continues for the 8th day and continues today. As a result of the strike, not only power loom workers, but also motorists, load workers, spare parts sellers and work-shop workers have been affected by the strike.
As cotton prices continue to rise in the market this month, yarn prices are expected to rise in June as well. Therefore, the textile manufacturers have demanded that the Central Governments bring the price of yarn under control and protect the textile industry.
