Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram: Police are preparing a sketch of the accused who robbed a deaf and dumb housewife at Kattakada in Thiruvananthapuram by threatening her with a gun. Police suspect that the thief was close to the house. Police believe the theft was aimed at a cash deposit of Rs 7 lakh.

The thief escaped after removing the earrings after threatening a 53-year-old woman at home with a gun, saying she was a deaf and dumb girl in Kattakada yesterday morning. The thief entered the house wearing a mask while his daughter Jyoti and son-in-law Ratheesh were going to church. Ratheesh lives in a rented house. The thief searched Ratheesh’s house and went to a nearby shop around 6.30 am. Those in the shop told the young man on his bike that he was home. Then came the masked robbery. Police have received footage of the thief leaving at around 7.10.

Ratheesh had cheated Rs 7 lakh a month ago. Police suspect the thief is someone who knows this information. It is also suspected that the thief checked the cupboard after removing the earrings for money. But Ratheesh Chitty did not take the money as he was not granted bail. The sketch is based on information provided by eyewitnesses. DySP KS Prashanth said the thief was someone who knew his family would go to church in the morning. Kumari’s statement was also recorded by the police with the help of a special school teacher.

Gold robbery at Guruvayoor Thampuran Padi; Defendant Dharmaraj arrested

The accused in the gold robbery case at Guruvayur Thampuranpadi has been arrested. Dharmaraj, a native of Trichy, Tamil Nadu, was arrested from Chandigarh. According to the police, he is accused in several theft cases in Kerala. Three kilograms of gold and Rs 2 lakh were stolen from the house of Balan, a gold wholesaler.

The robbery took place at Guruvayur Thampuranpadi on the 12th of this month. Police had collected CCTV footage of the robbery suspect. The accused was identified by the tattoo on his hand and the color of his hair. Dharmarajan, a native of Kerala, was arrested for stealing from Kerala.

The theft took place when gold trader Kuranjiyoor Balan and his wife went out to watch a movie. Police said the accused should be further questioned to find the stolen gold and cash.
