Kochi: At the end of the Thrikkakara by-election, the turnout was 68.75 per cent. There are 1,96,805 voters in 239 booths in Thrikkakara constituency. According to the first count, 135,279 people registered to vote. The turnout in the constituency in 2021 was 70.39 per cent. In the first election in 2011, the turnout was 73 percent. In 2016, it was 74.71 per cent.

At the same time, the fronts assessed that the tumultuous campaign was not reflected in the vote. The fronts are also confident of getting the maximum number of votes they can get. The counting of votes is on Friday. Until then, all three fronts are hoping that the result will add up and subtract.

All the booths have been crowded since the polling started this morning. But by the evening, voting had slowed. Despite the assessment that record polling would take place, the number of voters turned out in the evening. Though the monsoon was forecast in the state, the weather in Thrikkakara was clear from the beginning of the polls till the end.

UDF candidate Uma Thomas cast her vote at booth 50 at Palarivattom Pipeline Junction and LDF candidate Joe Joseph at booth number 140 at Vazhakkala. Movie stars Mammootty, Ranji Panicker, Lal and Harishree Asokan also voted in the morning.

Meanwhile, a young man was arrested for trying to vote fraudulently. He was caught trying to vote fraudulently at a polling booth at a school in Vyttila Ponnurni. Albin, a resident of Piravom, Piravom, was arrested by the police for voting in the name of TM Sanju at the booth. He was arrested following a complaint by UDF and NDA booth agents.

Five of the 239 booths are model booths. There is also a booth that is completely controlled by women. 956 officers have been deployed for election duties. District Collector Jafar Malik had earlier directed the polling officials to prevent fraudulent voting.

Thrikkakara witnessed unprecedented by-election excitement in Kerala politics. The election follows the death of UDF MLA PT Thomas. When his wife Uma Thomas was ousted by the UDF, the LDF fired Joe Joseph, a heart surgeon. The BJP has fielded senior leader AN Radhakrishnan.

With the Chief Minister, ministers and MLAs active in the constituency raising the slogan of 100 seats for the LDF, the election campaign in Thrikkakara is heating up. On the other hand, KPCC president, opposition leader, youth leaders and even AK Antony reached Thrikkakara. The distribution of pornographic videos, the arrest of PC George, the case of attacking the actress and the Silver Line project became the topics of the election campaign in Thrikkakara.

The constituency heated up as the LDF raised the slogan of 100 seats. The Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs were active in the constituency. The other side did not get worse. KPCC president, opposition leader, youth leaders and even AK Antony were active. Meanwhile, there was a long list of allegations, including pornographic videos. The arrest of PC George and the case of attacking the actress have come to light.
