Mess in the Binyamin Regional Council. Council Chairman Israel Ganz reprimanded CEO Yehuda Eliyahu and the council spokeswoman for a letter of boycott issued against Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked.
This morning, the council’s spokeswoman sent a press release regarding the letter sent by CEO Yehuda Eliyahu to the director of the Judea and Samaria Cluster, Keren Geffen, in which he protested against the invitation of Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked to the cluster conference in about a month. In the letter, Eliyahu announced that he would boycott the event, explaining: “Anyone who has been a key partner in the government in the past year whose policy harms settlement,” he added: “Precisely because the conference aims to strengthen settlement in Judea and Samaria, I And holds this government at the forefront of its own voice. “

Knitwear learned that the publication of the letter angered Council Chairman Ganz, who did not like its content and did not like the involvement of the council spokeswoman in publishing the things. Ganz has been trying since this morning to minimize damage to Shaked and has conveyed messages that the letter did not go through his mind. Ganz reprimanded not only the CEO who carried out the move but also the spokespersons who carried out the move, apparently without coordination with him and at a relatively sensitive time, on municipal and security issues.
To add fuel to the fire, and further cloud the atmosphere between Gantz and Shaked, hours after Eliyahu’s letter was published, Gali Israel radio broadcaster Yaakov Bardugo issued a monologue against Shaked about a “price tag” she is doing to Gantz for considering splitting the Binyamin Regional Council in two. A decision that has not yet been made and is certainly not related to the letter. At the same time, Shaked appointed Avi Roa as head of the Samaria Gate Council. Roa was the previous head of the Benjamin Council, and supported Ganz in the 2018 elections.
It should be noted that Yehuda Eliyahu is an associate of Smutrich and previously served as the general manager of the Regavim movement, the association of which Smutrich was one of the founders.
We will also mention in this context that six months ago, Shaked threatened a lawsuit against Ganz’s assistant in the Benjamin Council following ads published against her in the Shabbat leaflets, in which it was alleged that she was transferring money to terrorism.
We asked to hear the opinion of Israel Ganz on the letter and the publication, for hours he ignored the requests for response. A spokesman for the Benjamin Regional Council said they did not comment.
Following the post in Srugim, Israel Ganz posted on his Twitter account: “Our council has a unique and special CEO, Yehuda Eliyahu, whom I will not walk without his sharp touch on anything and everything and trust my hand in his actions. His values drive government members crazy. They are less used to it. When you see his letter you will read – he writes correctly and genuinely. It is a great honor for me to lead Benjamin with him! “
