Kolkata: Leading Bollywood singer KK (Krishnakumar Kunnath – 53) has passed away. KK, who returned to the hotel after singing for about an hour at a function in Kolkata last night, was unwell. He died on arrival at the hospital. KK is a singer who has won the hearts of music lovers through his albums, jingles and Hindi film songs. Along with film songs, he has also made a name for himself in the field of indie-pop and commercials. KK was born in 1968 in Delhi to CS Menon of Thiruvambadi, Thrissur and Kanakavalli of Poonkunnam. Although he could not read or write, he spoke Malayalam well. While studying at Mont St. Mary’s School and Kirory Mall College, he memorized songs by Kishore Kumar, Mohammad Rafi and Abba.

He formed his own rock music group and sang. After graduating from college, he became a marketing executive. Soon, commercials for Hero Honda and Usha Fan hit the music scene. Initially, KK provided voice for over 3,500 commercials in 11 languages ​​in India.

KK became famous with the song ‘Chhodaye Hum Wo Galiam ….’ from the Gulzar movie ‘Machis’. The song “Tadap Tadap” from the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and the songs Tu Aashiqui Hai (Junker Beatles), Awara Pan (Jism) and It’s the Time for Disco (Kal Ho Naa Ho) topped the KK charts.
