Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced that eight jobs will be exempt from the requirement to obtain permission from an expatriate employee to change their name in accordance with the new law on employment given in iqama or residence permit. The exemption will apply to changing the name of the profession through the Khiva portal.

The first time you do not have to pay a fee of 2000 riyals

Officials also said that the 2,000 riyals fee for foreign workers to make changes to the eight new professions added to the Khiva platform would not have to be paid when making the first change. Under the current practice, the message must be sent seeking the employee’s consent to change professions. Once this is approved by the worker, the job may change. The ministry has made it clear that this method is no longer required in the case of eight professions.

The new exemptions are available in the professions of Doctor, Expert, Specialist, Engineer, Specialized Expert, Monitoring Technician, Worker or Amil, Ordinary Worker or Amil Adi. Allowed. From now on these benefits will be available when modifying these professions through the Qiva platform. The change in jobs in these eight areas will only be considered as job correction, officials said. Based on this, the fee of 2000 riyals has been waived. At the same time, the authorities have made it clear that these professions in iqama will have to pay a fee the second time they change.

Most wage dispute cases in Labor Court

According to the Ministry of Justice, the majority of cases in labor courts in the country are related to wages. Since the establishment of special labor courts in the country, 35 per cent of cases have been related to wage protection, according to figures released by the ministry. So far, special labor courts in the country have ruled in 1.68 lakh cases. Of these, more than 60,000 are in cases involving verdicts and wages. You do not need the permission of the employer to change jobs

In March last year, the ministry had directed employers to upload employment contracts with expatriate workers in the private sector on the Kiva portal. The move is aimed at reducing labor disputes in the country and attracting the best talent to the Saudi labor market. Currently, 85 professions are uploaded on the Kiva portal. The biggest feature of being registered on the Kiva portal is that the worker can switch to another employer without the permission of the employer after the contract expires. Officials said last month that from now on, employment contracts will only be accepted through the Kiva portal.
