Jared Leto Denies Sexual Assault Claims in New BBC Documentary

Four women have accused actor and musician Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct occurring between 2002 and 2016, when they were teenagers, according to a BBC documentary released Wednesday, July 29. Leto, 54, denied all allegations through a representative, stating he has never sexually assaulted anyone in his life.

The documentary, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, features interviews with 10 participants, including nine women who shared their stories publicly for the first time. The project details allegations of inappropriate communication, grooming, sexual assault, and statutory rape spanning more than a decade. The release of the documentary follows previous public claims made against the Oscar-winning actor, including an Air Mail exposé published in June 2025 that detailed accounts from nine women regarding alleged sexual impropriety.

Specific Allegations Detailed by Four Accusers

Among the 10 participants featured in the documentary, four women detailed specific legal offenses allegedly committed by Leto while they were minors or young adults. One woman, using the alias Isabel, stated that she met Leto at the store where she worked in Las Vegas in 2002 and was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at age 17. Another woman, identified as Clara, alleged that Leto committed statutory rape at his house in California when she was 17 and he was 34, noting that the actor shrugged off a conversation about the state’s age of consent being 18.

A third accuser, a former model, stated that she was invited to a party in London in 2013 by a female assistant when she was 19. She recounted telling Leto she was 17 to deter him, to which the actor allegedly replied that age is just a number and that they were in Europe. She alleged that Leto subsequently threatened her with sexual assault in a hotel room before she managed to leave. A fourth woman alleged that Leto engaged in grooming when she was 16, sending explicit emails and phone calls, and later asking her to sign a non-disclosure agreement that she ultimately refused to sign.

Denials and Prior Accusations of Misconduct

In response to the documentary, representatives for Leto provided a statement denying the accusations.

Jared Leto, Actor and Musician

The actor has faced previous public scrutiny over his interactions with younger fans. In 2025, Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz reposted a 2012 Facebook status in which she accused Leto of trying to force himself on her backstage while wearing a kilt and snow hat. That post prompted additional individuals to come forward with accounts of alleged misconduct.

Touring Staff and Corroborating Evidence

The documentary also incorporates perspectives from individuals associated with Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. Two men who worked with the band reported that staff members felt uncomfortable regarding Leto’s interactions with teenage girls, alleging that he frequently invited them to his dressing room or recording house.

The BBC stated that it corroborated several accounts through interviews with friends and family members who were informed of the interactions at the time. Broadcasters also reported reviewing photographs and messages supporting aspects of the claims. No criminal charges have been filed against Leto in connection with the allegations.

Upcoming Schedule Amid Continued Scrutiny

Despite the renewed scrutiny and public allegations, Leto maintains an active professional schedule. He recently portrayed Skeletor in Masters of the Universe and won the 2014 Academy Award for best supporting actor for his performance in Cbsnews.
