Publisher and developer Argonaut Games has announced Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, a full remaster of the sequel to the multi-million-selling hit Croc Legend of the Gobbos. Following the release of the first game’s remaster last year, the studio is bringing back the classic title with enhanced visuals, modern controls, and a range of quality-of-life improvements. The project is currently targeting a release in Q4 2026 across major modern gaming platforms.

The remaster officially restores the subtitle Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, which was originally used during the game’s development stage. According to Impulsegamer, wishlisting for the title is available on supported storefronts.

Platform Lineup and Release Details

Players will be able to purchase the digital version of the game across a broad selection of hardware. The confirmed platform roster includes the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows PC via Steam and GOG.com. While digital storefront pages are live, studio representatives noted that further details regarding specific release timing and physical editions will be shared later in the year.

Behind the scenes, the development process presented unique technical obstacles. Mike Arkin, co-CEO of Argonaut Games, explained that the sequel was originally built on a completely different engine than the first title, which created distinct remastering challenges. However, Arkin noted that the groundwork established during the previous project successfully validated their technical approach.

We’ve made no secret of the fact that if Croc did well in the market, the obvious next project would be to remaster Croc 2, Arkin stated in a press release. Croc’s successful return exceeded what we hoped for, and that made the decision easy.

Argonaut founder Jez San OBE echoed those sentiments, expressing enthusiasm for introducing the adventure to modern audiences in high definition.

Storyline and Open-Ended 3D Platforming Gameplay

The narrative kicks off as the titular crocodile sets off for the mainland in search of his long-lost parents. His journey quickly escalates into a major confrontation when his arch-nemesis, Baron Dante, is resurrected by an army of sycophantic Dantinis and vows revenge for past defeats.

Spanning over 40 levels of open-ended 3D platforming, the gameplay retains its traditional style while incorporating modern enhancements. Players guide Croc as he travels across four distinct villages to rescue captured Gobbos. The adventure features a variety of gameplay mechanics, including the ability to perform triple jumps, ride minecarts, race in cars and speedboats, catch air on a hang glider, and take to the skies in a wooden airplane.

The Return of the Croc2pedia Museum Mode

Mirroring the bonus features included in the first game’s revival, the upcoming title introduces the impulsegamer.com, an in-game digital museum. This behind-the-scenes archive provides fans with an in-depth look at the sophomore adventure’s creative evolution from early design documents and concepts to final completion.
