Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was hospitalized in Miami on Tuesday under Florida’s Baker Act after appearing to self-harm during a TikTok livestream. Law enforcement and mental health professionals intervened at his home, while his management and family later confirmed he is receiving medical care and asked for privacy.
The incident drew widespread public concern after video clips and screenshots circulated across social media platforms on Tuesday. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies were dispatched to the celebrity blogger’s Westchester neighborhood home after receiving multiple emergency calls about a disturbing broadcast.
Police Response and Crisis Intervention Tactics
When deputies arrived at the property, they spoke with family members and established that the media personality was alone inside according to reports from Newsweek cited in regional coverage. Rather than forcing immediate entry, law enforcement officers chose to step back.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office explained its operational approach in a public statement released on Wednesday morning, detailing why deputies tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation during the emergency response.
The agency added that unless an immediate threat to others exists, slowing down an active crisis call and utilizing specialized intervention techniques help reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, responding deputies, and the public.
Hospitalization and Family Response
Following the intervention, the individual was safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.

A spokesperson confirmed that the blogger was committed under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows the authorities to commit someone involuntarily for up to 72 hours if that person poses a threat of harm to themselves or others. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals remained on the scene to provide support resources to the family.
On Wednesday afternoon, Golden Artists Entertainment—which represents the blogger—alongside family members, released statements thanking the public for their concern while emphasizing health and privacy.
“We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”

Platform Actions and Prior Public Shifts
The livestreamed incident, which lasted roughly 30 minutes, prompted swift action from online platforms. The broadcasted video was removed and Mr. Hilton’s account appeared to have been taken down on Wednesday.
Mario Lavandeira rose to prominence in the mid-2000s under his professional pseudonym, building a celebrity gossip empire characterized by sharp public commentary. In subsequent years, as digital culture evolved, he altered his public image to embrace fatherhood and adopt a kinder public persona, featuring family-oriented content.
The recent emergency follows other notable health challenges. Earlier in the year, he reported spending three weeks hospitalized with an ulcer and sepsis. Representatives noted that further updates regarding his recovery will be shared as official information becomes available.
