Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series, highlighted the significance of the collaboration. Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right, Riegg said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.

Anticipation Builds Following Long Silence

The upcoming August 27 broadcast breaks a lengthy information drought for fans waiting on the successor to Grand Theft Auto V, which released 13 years ago. It has been nearly 500 days since the release of the game’s second trailer, leaving enthusiasts eager for a deeper dive into the open world, characters, and gameplay mechanics of Vice City and the state of Leonida.

The official storyline centers on protagonists Jason and Lucia. As the official synopsis describes, Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

Pricing, Pre-orders, and Editions

Record-setting pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are currently underway ahead of the game’s scheduled launch on November 19, 2026. The title will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The base single-player game will start at $79.99. Additionally, Rockstar will offer a Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99, which The Hollywood Reporter notes amplifies the experience with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded throughout the narrative.

The release has also sparked ongoing discussions regarding physical media. While Rockstar has advertised a physical version, it will consist of a physical video game case containing a download code rather than a traditional disc, drawing debate among collectors, politicians, and retailers worldwide.
