Sony Interactive Entertainment announced its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog lineup for August 2026, bringing Helldivers 2, Vampire Survivors, and classic PS2 titles to subscribers alongside a packed week of retro hardware developments and golf tournament action.
PlayStation Plus Adds Helldivers 2, Vampire Survivors, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams
The August 2026 PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog lineup brings a diverse slate of titles to Extra and Premium subscribers. Arrowhead Game Studios’ cooperative multiplayer shooter Helldivers 2 leads the rollout, dropping onto the service for PS5 users worldwide alongside a major new game update. Subscribers stepping into the boots of the elite soldiers tasked with spreading Managed Democracy face the added challenge of active friendly fire.
Joining the catalog later in the month are Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Vampire Survivors, arriving on August 18.
For Classics Catalog subscribers, the month brings a notable PlayStation 2 entry. Capcom’s Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams joins the service in August 2026, building on a release window outlined during PlayStation’s early June State of Play presentation. Released originally in 2006 on PlayStation 2, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is the most recent mainline entry in Capcom’s beloved action-adventure series. Despite being the franchise’s stopping point for the past two decades, Dawn of Dreams was actually quite well-received and garnered generally positive reviews, making it a fitting addition for modern platforms.
Retro Hardware and Classic Gaming Updates
Beyond subscription updates, classic gaming hardware made headlines as Retro Games Ltd announced that its upcoming The A1200 system will benefit from official Amiga branding. The A1200 is officially an Amiga product,
says the company on Facebook, before adding: The Amiga name has a new chapter. With the recent announcement, the platform is moving forward into a new era.

Controversy also touched classic properties this week. Not long after the new trailer for The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough went live this week, fans were quick to point out that, true to form, System 3 appears to be using GenAI to create assets for this collection. The veteran publisher has embraced GenAI in many of its titles, and Time Extension understands that the company outsources much of its production to external partners rather than doing the work in-house. It seems that System 3 tried to head off such questions from the get-go, as the press release contains the following statement, as spotted by Go Nintendo: No generative AI was used in the creation of the artwork. Every stage began with the authentic original James Pond graphic and was completed using traditional digital illustration, 3D rendering and manual artistic refinement.
Meanwhile, SEGA’s classic brawler Golden Axe received its first trailer for an animated series from the Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan and American Dad’s Joe Chandler, giving us our first real look at the fantasy-themed action comedy adventure series based on the classic Sega brawler.
PGA Tour Action at the Detroit Golf Club
Away from the digital screen, professional sports action unfolded at the 2026 Rocket Classic. The Rocket Classic is through two rounds at the historic Detroit Golf Club. There’s now a three-way tie for the lead, including Cameron Young seeking his third win of 2026. Golfers such as J.J. Spaun of the United States, Sungjae Im of the Republic of Korea, Hideki Matsuyama of Japan, and Wyndham Clark of the United States were also featured during the Pro Am prior to the Rocket Classic 2026 at Detroit Golf Club on July 29, 2026 in Detroit, Michigan.
