A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 61-year-old man and the attempted murder of two others following a Saturday morning attack on Lisnahull Road in Dungannon, County Tyrone. The teenager is scheduled to appear in Omagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s major investigation team announced the charges late Monday following a weekend investigation following the death of the 61-year-old man at a property on Lisnahull Road in Dungannon, County Tyrone. Police discovered the man’s body alongside an injured eight-year-old girl at approximately 11am on Saturday, August 29.
Victims and Medical Status After the Dungannon Attack
The deceased man, who has not been officially named by authorities, was a Guinea-Bissau national who had lived and worked in the local area for more than 20 years. His identity circulated widely through local reporting.
The man’s 48-year-old wife sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and has since been released from hospital. Their eight-year-old daughter, who was also wounded in the attack, was left in a critical condition before stabilizing.
Officers who arrived at the scene provided immediate medical aid to the young girl, giving her what investigators described as critical early intervention before paramedics transported her for emergency care.

The 16-year-old suspect, who was arrested over the weekend, faces multiple serious counts filed by the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The formal charge sheet includes one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and making threats to kill stemming from the events on Lisnahull Road.
Upcoming Court Appearance and Judicial Review
The teenager is scheduled to appear before Omagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 1, to face the charges. As standard judicial procedure in the jurisdiction, all charges will subsequently be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
