Live Nation officially cancelled AC/DC’s upcoming September 16 concert at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium following severe storm damage that collapsed sections of the venue’s north grandstands. Ticketmaster is automatically refunding all original purchases, as engineers confirm affected areas must be entirely removed and rebuilt before next summer.
AC/DC fans looking forward to closing out the venue’s summer season will have to wait until next year. The 50,000-capacity open-air venue sustained significant structural damage during a powerful September 2 extreme weather event that swept through Toronto.
Storm Damage Destroys Rogers Stadium Seating Sections
The storm brought heavy rain, hail, and high winds reaching up to 110 km/h, which the general manager of city services, Paul Johnson, characterized as the storm of the century. Drone photography following the severe weather revealed bright blue bleachers crumpled across the grounds alongside collapsed north grandstand seating structures.
The extreme weather also toppled viewing stations, shipping containers, and tents across the site. Kevin Mahoney, Rogers Stadium’s on-site meteorologist, noted that a suspected microburst produced extreme winds and heavy rainfall across the area, with forensic meteorological analysis still ongoing.
City Orders and Engineering Assessments
Immediately following the severe weather, the City of Toronto slapped the property owners with an order to remedy an unsafe building. The mandate required Live Nation Canada to retain a professional engineer to assess the site, identify remedial measures, and submit a formal report.
Live Nation met the municipal deadline by submitting its engineering findings to the city. While the entertainment giant initially explored alternative venues, executives ultimately concluded that no other local space could accommodate everyone.

Rebuilding for the Next Concert Season
Engineers determined that the storm-impacted sections cannot simply be patched up. Instead, crews must completely remove and rebuild the damaged framework before the venue hosts fans again.
“Cancelling a concert is never a decision we want to make, and we know how disappointing this will be for all of us who have been looking forward to seeing AC/DC close out our summer season. Safety has to come first. The right decision is to take the time to remove and rebuild the affected parts of the stadium to ensure it is ready to welcome fans next summer.”

The cancellation brings an early end to Rogers Stadium’s second operating season. The venue hosted 19 individual concerts in 2026, nearly double its inaugural year total of 12 shows, with acts ranging from Bruno Mars to Chris Stapleton filling out the summer calendar.
Ticket Refund Procedures and Tour Status
Ticketmaster will automatically issue full refunds to the original method of payment for all direct ticket holders, requiring no further action from buyers. Fans who acquired passes through the secondary resale market must reach out directly to their specific point of purchase for reimbursement details.
Despite the Toronto cancellation, AC/DC’s PWR/UP tour schedule remains active elsewhere.
