Multiple people sustained injuries in two separate traffic accidents across Thessaloniki, including a collision involving an electric bus and a second bus that sent an electric bus crashing into a Neapoli bus stop, alongside a vehicle veer-off in Exochi.

Transportation authorities and emergency crews responded to a pair of collisions in the Thessaloniki area, drawing immediate intervention from firefighting units, emergency medical services, and transit administrators. The incidents left multiple individuals hospitalized with varying degrees of injury, prompting official investigations into the exact causes of both wrecks.

Bus Collision and Bus Stop Crash in Neapoli

The first incident unfolded at 12:55 midday on Andrea Papandreou Street in Neapoli, Thessaloniki, according to transit officials. An electric bus operated by the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH) collided with a second bus, and according to the OASTH, a KTEL bus was moving in front of it at the scene. Following the impact, the electric bus veered off its course and slammed directly into the “Kan-Kan” bus station.

The impact injured four women waiting at or near the transit stop. The management of the transit organization immediately engaged with relevant authorities to monitor the victims’ medical status while expressing solidarity with the injured and their families, wishing them a speedy recovery. In an official announcement, the organization noted that the progress of the victims’ health remains the top priority.

The OASTH administration underlined that the safety of both passengers and citizens is a fundamental and non-negotiable priority. Meanwhile, the organization is cooperating fully with the Thessaloniki Traffic Police (Τροχαία Θεσσαλονίκης), which has undertaken the responsibility of investigating the exact causes and conditions of the accident.

Hospital Treatment and Severe Injuries for a 21-Year-Old Victim

Medical updates from the incident management team regarding the Neapoli crash revealed that a 21-year-old woman sustained heavy injuries. While she remained hemodynamically stable, she is scheduled to undergo a surgical operation. Imaging examinations revealed a severe leg dislocation, and the procedure is expected to be performed by a specialized team consisting of orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons, and plastic surgeons. The young woman also suffered head and pelvic trauma which, according to assessments so far, do not require surgical intervention.

The three other female victims—aged 17, 50, and 62—sustained minor injuries and their condition is not considered serious. Hospital staff admitted them to the Surgical Clinic for continued hospitalization and medical observation.

Vehicle Veer-off and Fire Rescue Operation in Exochi

In a separate incident on September 13, 2026, a private passenger vehicle (ΕΙΧ όχημα) veered off the road under unclear circumstances in the Exochi area within the municipality of Pylaia-Chortiatis in Thessaloniki. The crash trapped four occupants inside the vehicle.

The Fire Corps dispatched 10 firefighters operating four vehicles to the scene to execute a rescue and extraction operation. Rescuers successfully freed all four individuals from the automobile and handed them over to rescuers from the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAB). Ambulances rushed the injured parties urgently to the on-duty Papageorgiou Hospital to receive first aid and undergo comprehensive medical examinations.

Investigative authorities of the Traffic Police (Τροχαία) have assumed control of probing the causes of the Exochi incident. Simultaneously, the Thessaloniki Traffic Police continue their active inquiry into the Neapoli bus crash, working to determine the precise sequence of events and factors that led to both collisions.
