Geely Auto Australia has confirmed the 830kW Battleship 700 plug-in hybrid off-road SUV for local release in the second half of 2027, while opening pre-orders for the Monjaro EM-i mid-size SUV and Emgrand L EM-i medium sedan ahead of their scheduled arrivals.
Battleship 700 Confirmed as Geely’s New Local Flagship
Geely is preparing a plug-in hybrid onslaught for the Australian market, anchored by the production version of the vehicle previously shown as the Galaxy Cruiser prototype. The large off-road SUV, known in overseas markets as the Battleship 700, is confirmed to arrive in the second half of 2027 as the top-tier model in the brand’s local range.
While local final specifications are still being determined, the production model features a massive 830kW from its tri-motor AWD system fed by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 47kWh battery pack.
The vehicle measures over five meters long and adopts styling cues inspired by the Land Rover Defender, positioning it as a competitor to large rugged SUVs like the Toyota LandCruiser 300 series and the BYD Denza B8. Unlike traditional mechanical 4WD systems, the Battleship 700 utilizes a front-mounted engine and electric motor driving the front wheels, paired with a purely electric rear motor set-up and no mechanical driveshaft or transfer case.
Global versions feature an 800-volt electrical architecture for fast charging, adjustable-height air suspension, off-road software modes, an 800mm wading capability, and a rear differential lock between the two rear electric motors. Inside, the cabin includes a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 15.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, a center console fridge or heater, synthetic leather seating, and an audio system with up to 23 speakers.
Pre-Orders Open for Monjaro EM-i and Emgrand L EM-i
Alongside the flagship off-roader, Geely has opened domestic pre-orders for two additional plug-in hybrid models slated to arrive in the first half of 2027. Customers who place a $200 pre-order deposit on the Monjaro EM-i mid-size SUV or the Emgrand L EM-i sedan before September 30 qualify for a complimentary home charger and a premium paint upgrade.
The Monjaro EM-i sits above the Starray EM-i in the lineup and shifts to Geely’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture Evo platform. It pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid system with dual electric motors and a battery pack with up to 40kWh capacity. The setup yields up to 170km of WLTP electric driving range and a combined driving range reaching 1137km.
The Emgrand L EM-i sedan targets electrified passenger cars such as the Toyota Camry, measuring 4790mm long, 1860mm wide, and 1490mm tall with a 2750mm wheelbase and more than 500 litres of luggage capacity. Powered by an 18.4kWh battery and an EM-i plug-in hybrid system, the sedan delivers outputs exceeding 180kW and 250Nm, an electric-only range past 80km under WLTP testing, and a combined range above 1000km.
Pricing Expectations and Competitive Positioning
The brand secured a place among the top-10 best-selling brands in Australia for the month of August, less than 18 months after launching locally.
While official local pricing for the Battleship 700 remains unannounced, the model starts from the equivalent of around $56,500 in China and stretches to $81,460 for the top-spec Land Yacht variant. Factoring in typical import and logistics additions of 15 to 20 per cent, industry expectations place local pricing between $70,000 and $98,000, positioning it close to the rival Denza B8 while undercutting the Zeekr 8X and 9X luxury SUVs.
Public Debut at Everything Electric Sydney
The public rollout of Geely’s expanded range centers on the Everything Electric Show in Sydney, which runs from September 18 to 20. The brand is utilizing the event to formally showcase its incoming models, including the Emgrand L EM-i sedan, which will feature a large waterfall front grille, full LED lighting with more than 170 metres of illumination coverage, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 14.6-inch HD touchscreen, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
With the arrival of the Emgrand L EM-i, Monjaro EM-i, and Battleship 700 throughout 2027, the company will double its local model lineup from three to six vehicles, deepening its footprint across both SUV and passenger car segments.
