A Study by Verne Comunicación Reveals 60% of Peruvian Executives Use AI Tools, With BBVA’s Fernando Eguiluz Leading 2026 Ranking
A study by Verne Comunicación reveals that 60% of Peruvian executives now maintain a strong digital presence using AI tools, with BBVA’s Fernando Eguiluz leading the 2026 ranking of top-performing CEOs. The analysis, based on 524 executives from September 2025 to August 2026, highlights shifts in content strategy, sector representation, and the growing influence of AI in corporate leadership.
Methodology and Key Metrics
The ranking, developed by Verne Comunicación, evaluated 524 Peruvian executives between September 2025 and August 2026 using four criteria: presence (Google and AI tool visibility), brand leadership (40% weight), conversation (engagement with comments), and community (publication frequency and follower count). A key finding was that 73% of LinkedIn content created by executives in 2026 was original, up from 55% in 2025, with strategists noting that LinkedIn’s algorithm favors this type of material.
Executives’ AI engagement also surged, with 60% now having a strong presence on platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini—up from 15% in 2025. However, only 8% of executives posted four or more times monthly, down from 19% the prior year, highlighting “constancy” as a major challenge. AI is already a consolidated source of consultation on business leadership, said Victor Lozano, director of Innovation at Verne Comunicación.
Top Performers and Sector Trends
Ranking: conoce a los CEO con mejor desempeño digital
Fernando Eguiluz, CEO of BBVA Perú, retained the top spot in 2026, while Diego Cavero of BCP and Marco Fragale of Orygen swapped second and third places compared to 2025. The banking sector dominated the Top 20, with four executives listed, though the mining industry remained absent despite public interest. The sector hasn’t re-entered the list for 2026, Lozano noted, contrasting its economic significance with its digital footprint.
New additions to the ranking included Mario Potestá of Rímac Seguros, Cristiano Sampaio of Gloria, and Sebastián Arcuri of Scotiabank Perú, alongside Camposol’s Ricardo Naranjo. These changes reflected organizational shifts, though the study emphasized that digital performance metrics were not tied to company size or sector dominance.
Content Themes and Digital Engagement
Executives’ digital content focused heavily on corporate projects (18.2%) and event participation (16.4%), reinforcing their role as brand ambassadors. Sustainability emerged as a rising topic, climbing two positions to 11.9% in 2026 due to new global regulations. Innovation and technology (7.8%) and national context (7.5%, driven by elections) also gained traction.

There is already a more developed planning. There is a strategy behind the executives to start being those who drive the conversation on certain topics. And that’s also interesting because LinkedIn’s algorithm usually gives greater reach to this type of content, said Lozano. In contrast, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) themes declined sharply, falling out of the top 10 after peaking between 2022 and 2023. This mirrors a global trend, Lozano said, noting that DEI discussions have lost momentum in digital conversations.
Sector Absences and Implications
Estos son los 20 CEO con mejor desempeño digital
The absence of mining executives in the Top 20 raised questions about how the sector’s digital strategies align with its economic influence. While 21% of executives remained inactive on LinkedIn in 2026—down from 25% in 2025—the study suggested that sector-specific challenges might hinder digital engagement.
The study also noted that AI tools are now essential for modern leadership, with 60% of executives leveraging them for content creation and audience interaction.
