“It’s a taste of the Olympic Games”: at the end of September, beach volleyball arrives at Roland-Garros

It will be a first. Nadal, Djokovic, Swiatek, Tsitsipás are used to playing on the Philippe-Chatrier court, the “beach volleyball players” less so. While the clay court will turn into a desert of sand for a few days, the smashes will no longer be reserved for the stars of world tennis, but now for the 32 best beach volleyball teams. From the Central of Roland-Garros to the adjoining courts, an entire district will live to the rhythm of this beach sport during the four days of competition, from September 29 to October 2. This event is part of the strategy of the French Volleyball Federation to gain popularity for its sport before the Paris 2024 Olympics.
