With the mirrors already perfectly aligned and the latest tests practically passed, the sophisticated telescope is almost ready to start doing science. In fact, only the last of its preparation phases remains to be completed, the calibration of the instruments, a task that will end at the end of this same month of June. But NASA has prepared a previous surprise, a series of images, which will undoubtedly be spectacular, the result of the first scientific observations of the James Webb. And no one knows what its content might be.
So far we have already seen some signs of the telescope’s potential, but no concrete scientific results yet. Which does not mean, of course, that NASA is not already very clear about what the goals of James Webb will be for next year.
