Increase in petrol and diesel sales-Dinamani

Sales of fuels, including petrol and diesel, have risen sharply in May following the intensification of summer vacation travel.

Petrol: Petrol sales of the public sector oil companies, which control 90 per cent of the market, rose by 55.7 per cent in May to 28 lakh tonnes in May this year.

Moreover, the current petrol consumption is 76 per cent higher than in May 2020 and 12 per cent higher than the pre-Corona May 2019.

Diesel: The highest selling diesel in the country was 68.20 lakh tonnes in May this year. This is 39.4 per cent higher than diesel sales in May 2021; 2.3 percent decrease compared to May 2019.

Cooking gas: The price of a cooking gas cylinder has been hiked by Rs 103.50 since last March. As a result, its sales rose by only 1.48 per cent to 21.9 lakh tonnes in May.

ATF: Aviation fuel (ATF) sales more than doubled to 5,40,200 tonnes in May after a two-year hiatus, according to public sector figures.
