For the time being, infections have only been detected in our country among young men who have sexual contacts with men. They are between 28 and 46 years old.? The WHO nevertheless emphasizes that monkey pox is caused by a virus that does not discriminate between people and is not limited to the gay community.

Until now, no people with the monkeypox virus had to be hospitalized.

Monkeypox is related to smallpox, which claimed millions of victims worldwide each year before being eradicated in 1980. However, monkeypox is much less severe and most people recover within three to four weeks. The virus is transmitted through close contacts. The first symptoms are a high fever, swollen lymph nodes and a chickenpox-like rash.
