The expert explained why the rates on credit cards are growing – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

by time news

In September, the amount of servicing credit cards increased to 30% per annum, which was the highest figure in the last five years. Yuri Tverdokhleb, Associate Professor of the Department of Regulation of the Activities of Financial Institutions, RANEPA, believes that in this way banks are fighting risks.

As noted by Tverdokhleb, the share of problem loans on the market is growing, and banks include in the cost of service, interest and insurance, possible risks of non-repayment. At the same time, there is now a general upward trend in rates. However, according to the expert, there is no need to fear a serious increase in interest rates on loans.

“I think that here we can talk about a change of one or two percentage points, not more,” he said in an interview with Sputnik radio.

Earlier, the expert told why it may be unprofitable to extinguish the mortgage ahead of schedule.
