The last one and a half years have not been easy for India’s senior wicketkeeper-batsman Viruthiman Saha. He was the leading wicket-keeper of the Test cricket team until last year when he was sidelined from Test cricket due to Rishabh Pund’s outstanding performance. He almost lost his place in the Indian team as the team management subsequently made it clear that he would no longer take him on the team and that he would not be given a chance to advance the youth in the future.
He was not picked by any team on the first day of the IPL series bidding as there was a bad situation around him on one side like this. But on the second day of the auction, the Gujarat team bought him for Rs 90 lakh crore. However, he did not get the chance to play in the IPL series easily. He sat on the bench for the first five matches. Matthew Wade, who was the starter at the time, was pushed to the middle order and was given the opportunity to start by Vruthiman Saha by the Gujarat team.

Using it correctly, Saha missed the first five matches but amassed 317 runs in the remaining 11 matches with three half-centuries that showed his prowess. His impressive start during the Powerplay overs helped Gujarat win several matches. Hardik Pandya, who was a good starter for the team that won the championship in this IPL series from an unseen player, said that his batting was excellent.
As he puts it: I went unsold on the first day of the auction during this IPL series. But on the second day the Gujarat team trusted me and took me to the auction. Pandya came to me with confidence after a certain match when I was sitting outside without getting a chance in the opening matches even though I was a bit confident right then and there.

Now you are going to play as a starter for the Gujarat team and your experience will definitely give us a hand. He said you have to play better for our team. It was the support that Pandya gave me like this that gave me hope again. So I played very well in the opportunities available to me and I did not want to disappoint the confidence that Pandya had placed in me.

The way Hardik Pandya handled the Gujarat team as a captain was fantastic. No one has put the trust that Pandya has placed in me in this IPL series. It is noteworthy that Saha said that I batted brilliantly so that his belief would not lie.
